UNC Softball Hosts Georgia Tech in Key ACC Doubleheader

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The UNC softball team hosts No. 26 Georgia Tech at the UNC Softball Complex on Sunday. The doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. as the Tar Heels try to take a major step towards capturing the ACC title. Georgia tech boasts a record of 35-11 and 1-3 in the ACC while Carolina has a 27-15 overall record, 5-1 in the ACC. UNC also has won 21 of 23 games since being 16-13 on March 13.
UNC is led by senior shortstop Emily Price, as she is leads the ACC in RBI's with 39 and is tied for the lead in home runs with 11. Price also is hitting .416 on the year with 35 runs scored. Senior Dionne Streete and junior Jessica Young are also important keys to the Carolina offense as Streete leads the ACC in doubles with 17 and has eight home runs and 25 RBI's. Young hits .310 and has five home runs and 24 RBI's on the season.
Georgia tech is led by Tara Knudsen and Jessica Sallinger. Knudsen has 11 home runs, 37 RBI's and leads the ACC in batting average with a .452 clip. Sallinger is second in the ACC in ERA with a mark of 0.58.
The first 200 fans through the gate on Sunday will receive a plastic spoon. Following the second game, fans will attempt to dig up a pair of FREE DIAMOND EARRINGS, courtesy of Amber Jewelers.
