UNC Women's Golf Remains In Second Place At ACC Tournament

CLEMMONS, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team shot a 10-over-par 284 and are in second place after Saturday's second round at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. Senior Meaghan Francella, defending champion, has maintained her one-stroke lead with a two-under 69.
Duke holds the team lead at a total three-under 565 with its second-round 286 on Saturday. North Carolina sits 14 strokes back at a total 11-over 579. Wake Forest is in third place with a total 14-over 582. Florida State, NC State, Virginia and Maryland round out the field.
Francella is a total seven-under 135 after shooting a 66 and 69 in the first two rounds, respectively. Behind her is Duke's Brittany Lang, who is one stroke off the lead at six-under 136. Lang also shot a 69 in her second round, paired with a first-round 67 to put her in the race for the individual title.
Katie Quinney of Florida State climbed from 10th to third place at three-under 139 with the second-round's low score of 67. North Carolina's senior Ashley Prange holds fourth place at two-under with a 69 and 71 to round out the below-par players.
Carolina sophomore Beth Marushak is tied for 21st with a pair of 76's at 10-over 152. Freshman Katie Miller is also tied for 21st after firing a 74 and 78. Sophomore Romi Irons is in a tie for 25th, shooting a 77 and 78 for a total 13-over 155.
The third and final round will begin on Sunday at 8 a.m. when Virginia and Maryland tee off at hole number one. Then Florida State and NC State tee off at 8:35 a.m. and Duke, North Carolina and Wake Forest tee off at 9:10 a.m.
The 16th ACC Championship is being played at Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons, N.C. The course is a par 71 and 6,348 yards.
