CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The William E. Scroggs Locker Room at Kenan Stadium was formally dedicated and opened in a ceremony attended by Tar Heel lacrosse fans and alumni on Saturday, April 24. The locker room is named in honor of former University of North Carolina head men's lacrosse coach Willie Scroggs who led the Tar Heels to a trio of national championships.
The new locker room for the UNC men's lacrosse team at the old Kenan Field House was refirbished with funds raised by UNC lacrosse alumni and the Educational Foundation.
Scroggs, who was inducted this past November into the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame, serves as a senior associate director of athletics at the University. He was the head men's lacrosse coach for 12 seasons from 1978-1990, coaching Tar Heel teams to a 120-37 record and NCAA titles in 1981, 1982 and 1986.
