No. 15 Tar Heels End Break at UNC Greensboro Wednesday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 15 North Carolina (31-11, 11-7 ACC) baseball team takes the field for the first time since April 25 when it travels to UNC Greensboro (29-12-1, 13-8 SoCon) for a 6 p.m. meeting on Wednesday. The Tar Heels defeated the Spartans, 10-3, on April 21 in Chapel Hill.
Last time out, the Tar Heels won two of three at Duke before taking a nine-day break for final exams. Since Carolina last played UNC Greensboro, the Spartans have gone 6-2, including a series win over Wofford at home last weekend.
UNC Greensboro is led by Ryan Gordon, who is batting .376 with five homers and 29 runs batted in. Danny Valencia is batting .365 with five home runs and 28 RBI.
Juniors Chris Iannetta and Marshall Hubbard lead the Tar Heel lineup. Iannetta checks in a .353 average, nine homers and 50 RBI, while Hubbard is batting .352 with team-bests of 14 homers and 57 RBI. Hubbard has hit safely in each of the last 14 games.
With the win earlier this season, Carolina is now 8-3 all-time against the Spartans with all three losses coming in Greensboro. The Tar Heels last played there on April 10, 2001, losing 10-9. UNCG also won at home in 1995 and '96.
Following Wednesday's meeting, Carolina returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play with a three-game series against Maryland at Boshamer Stadium. Games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
