Cedrick Holt Named Carolina Performer of the Week

Senior cornerback Cedrick Holt made seven tackles, including two tackles for losses, broke up a pass and intercepted another late in the fourth quarter in Carolina's 7-5 victory over No. 23 Virginia and is the Tar Heel Performer of the Week for October 17-23, 2005. Holt's interception, his second of the season, came on Virginia's final offensive play of the game. Virginia QB Marquis Hagans was flushed out of the pocket and his pass was tipped by safety Trimane Goddard. Holt picked the ball out of the air to secure the victory.

Callahan lifted the Tar Heels to an unbeaten week and a 1-0 win over No. 17 Wake Forest with his first career goal. The Cary, N.C., native beat a defender in the box and scored in the 97th minute to give Carolina its first win over Wake Forest since 2000 Saturday night. The win also snapped a three-game ACC losing streak for the Tar Heels and vaulted them past the Deacs in the league standings. Callahan has started 14 of the 15 games for Carolina this season and now has three points on one goal and one assist.

White scored the game-winning goal in No. 3 North Carolina's 1-0 victory over NC State Thursday, running the Tar Heels' record to 16-1 overall and 8-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with one regular-season match remaining. White's goal was her third game-winning goal of the 2005 campaign and she has now converted all four of her penalty kicks this season.

One of UNC's four seniors, Mandour had one of the best tournaments of his Tar Heel career as he went 3-1 in singles in the 2005 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mideast Regional Championships at Chapel Hill. Mandour won two matches in the qualifying phase of the tournament to advance to the main draw where he reached the second round before falling to teammate Benjamin Carlotti, the No. 9 seed, in a three set, four and 10 minute marathon with the match being decided in a third set tiebreaker.
