WTVD, the ABC affiliate in Durham, N.C., will broadcast the University of North Carolina's football game against Louisville on Saturday, Oct. 8, live at 4:30 p.m.
UNC officials contacted WTVD last week when the game was not selected as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference slate of televised games. Carolina asked WTVD to pursue options to show the game and WTVD responded by working out an arrangement with WHAS, the ABC affiliate in Louisville, which airs Cardinal football home and away games.
"We are grateful to WTVD, the University of Louisville and WHAS to have worked out the details so our fans may be able to view Saturday's football game," says Director of Athletics Dick Baddour. "Coming off two exciting wins in a row, I expect our fans will tune in to the game in large numbers. I'm pleased for our fans that we were able to get this game shown in North Carolina."
The game will be a Louisville production with Cardinal-selected announcers and graphics.
"Tar Heel fans can have the best of both worlds Saturday," says Gary Sobba, general manager of the Tar Heel Sports Network. "Watch the game on WTVD and dial up Woody Durham, Rick Steinbacher and Jones Angell for the radio call of the game."
