NFL Update: Week 4

Six former Tar Heels head into week five of the NFL season without a loss on their record. There is at least one former Tar Heel on each of the NFL's four undefeated teams; the Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Redskins, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Included in the group of undefeated Tar Heels are Jeb Terry of the Buccaneers, Ethan Albright of the Redskins, Brian Simmons of the Bengals, and David Thornton, Dexter Reid, and Jeff Saturday of the Colts.
Former Tar Heel Alge Crumpler caught his first touchdown of the season in week four when the Falcons defeated the Minnesota Vikings 30-10. Crumpler scored the first points of the game on a five-yard reception from quarterback Michael Vick.
Week 4 performances by former Tar Heels in the NFL:
Sam Aiken, Buffalo Bills - Played wide receiver and had one tackle on special teams in the Bills' 19-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins - Played long snapper in the Redskins' 20-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
Dre' Bly, Detroit Lions - Started at cornerback and recorded five tackles and a pass deflection in the Lions' 17-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jason Brown, Baltimore Ravens - Not active in week four.
Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons - Started at tight end and caught three passes for 16 yards, including a touchdown reception in the first quarter, in the Falcons' 30-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders - Out for the season due to Achilles tendon injury incurred during week two.
Russell Davis, Arizona Cardinals - Out for the season due to a torn bicep incurred in week three against the Seattle Seahawks.
Ebenezer Ekuban, Denver Broncos - Played defensive end in the Broncos' 20-7 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He recovered a fumble and returned it for nine yards in the win.
Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys - Started at defensive end and had one tackle and one pass deflection in the Cowboys' 19-13 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Madison Hedgecock, St. Louis Rams - Started at fullback and had one rushing attempt in the Rams' 44-24 loss to the New York Giants. He also made three tackles on special teams.
William Henderson, Green Bay Packers - Played fullback and had two receptions for 42 yards in the Packers' 32-29 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He had the Packers' longest reception of the game on a 32-yard catch from Brett Favre in the second quarter.
Zachary Hilton, New Orleans Saints - Played tight end in the Saints' 19-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Sedrick Hodge, New Orleans Saints - Started at outside linebacker in the Saints' 19-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Vonnie Holliday, Miami Dolphins - Open Date
Keith Newman, Minnesota Vikings - Played linebacker in the Vikings' 30-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers - Open Date
Julius Peppers, Carolina Panthers - Started at defensive end and had two tackles in the Panthers' 32-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh Steelers - Open Date
Dexter Reid, Indianapolis Colts - Played defensive back and recovered a fumble on special teams in the Colts' 31-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts - Started at center and helped the Colts' offense block for 100 rushing yards and 264 passing yards in the team's 31-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
Gerald Sensabaugh, Jacksonville Jaguars - Played safety in the Jaguars' 20-7 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Brian Simmons, Cincinnati Bengals - Started at outside linebacker and recorded five tackles and a sack for a loss of five yards in the Bengals' 16-10 victory over the Houston Texans.
Ryan Sims, Kansas City Chiefs - Not active due to injury.
Jeb Terry, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Played guard in the Buccaneers' 17-13 victory over the Detroit Lions.
David Thornton, Indianapolis Colts - Started at outside linebacker and made seven tackles in the Colts' 31-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
Michael Waddell, Tennessee Titans - Played cornerback in the Titans' 31-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Bracy Walker, Detroit Lions - Played safety and had one tackle on special teams in the Lions' 17-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
