COLUMBUS, Ohio - North Carolina junior left-hander Andrew Miller has been selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-America Second Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
A two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference choice, Miller went 8-4 last season with a 2.98 earned run average and 104 strikeouts en route to second-team all-conference honors. He is 14-7 with a 2.96 ERA in his two seasons at Carolina and has 192 career strikeouts in 185.2 innings.
This summer, Miller was 6-0 with a 1.65 ERA for the Chatham A's and was rated as the league's No. 1 professional prospect by Baseball America.
The ACC was well represented on the NCBWA list, as eight league players were selected to the three teams. Miller was the league's only starting pitcher honored.
Miller and classmates Daniel Bard and Robert Woodard give the Tar Heels one of the nation's most talented starting rotations. Carolina opens the 2006 season Friday, Feb. 17 versus Seton Hall.
