CHAPEL HILL -- The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team begins the 2005 at No. 8 in the preseason Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, released on Monday.
Defending NCAA champion Virginia tops the poll, followed by No. 2 Princeton, No. 3 Northwestern, No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Georgetown. Maryland, ranked No. 7, gives the Atlantic Coast Conference four of the top eight teams in the nation in the first poll.
