Carolina's Women's Golfers In Seventh Place After Two Rounds Of Lady Gamecock Classic

Blythewood, S.C. - Carolina's women's golf team is in seventh place with a 650 total after the second round of the Lady Gamecock Classic. The Tar Heels carded a 331 in the second round and are 29 strokes behind New Mexico which leads the field of 12 teams with a 621 total. Louisiana State in in second place with a 625 total while South Carolina is third at 628, Furman is fourth at 629 and Virginia is in fifth place at 631.
Kailin Downs of New Mexico and Caroline Rominger of South Carolina are tied for the individual lead at four-over-par 148. Furman's Jenny Suh is alone in third place one shot back with a 149 total while a trio of players is tied for fourth place at 155 - East Tennessee State's Maria Ringdahl, Louisiana State's Melissa Eaton and Virginia's Sally Shonk.
Carolina sophomore Katie Miller leads the Tar Heels and is tied for 13th place at 15-over 159. After firing a first-round 76, she posted an 83 in the second round. Beth Marushak is tied for 29th place with a 162 total while Romi Irons is tied for 35th at 164, Laura Caniff is tied for 42nd at 165 and Ann Laney is tied for 53rd at 169. Colette Lowe is playing as an individual and is tied for 35th place with 164 total.
The 54-hole event continues through Sunday and is being played at The University Club which features a par 72, 5,996-yard layout.
