No. 9 Tar Heels Fall To No. 15 Gators 6-1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The ninth-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team fell to 15th-ranked Florida 6-1 Sunday afternoon at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex. Carolina falls to 12-6 on the season, while the Gators improve to 7-2.
Sophomore Jenna Long, ranked 88th, recorded the only point on the day for the Tar Heels. She defeated Whitney Benik 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 seed to improve to 27-5 on the season.
In doubles action, the 11th-ranked tandem of Kendall Cline and Aniela Mojzis cruised over fifth-ranked Benik and Lolita Frangulyan 8-1. The senior pair moves to 22-5.
At the No. 2 seed, Long and Sara Anundsen, ranked 26th nationally, fell to 10th-ranked Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes 8-3. The loss broke an eight-match winning streak for the sophomore team. They move to 24-5.
At No. 3, the Gators' Alex Liles and Nina Suvak defeated Caitlin Collins and Alexandra Jurewitz 8-5.
In singles play, two of the matches went to three sets. At No. 1, No. 32 Mojzis fell to No. 10 Magley 2-6, 6-4, 1-0(10-6). At No. 6, junior Tanja Markovic lost to Frangulyan 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
The Tar Heels are back in action on March 31 when they will take on Wake Forest in Winston-Salem at 4 p.m.
