CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina baseball team will have six regular-season games nationally televised by ESPN networks this season, as all three games of both the Miami and Georgia Tech series at Boshamer Stadium will be aired on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
These six games are part of a 44-game college baseball and softball package that will air on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU between April 8 and May 22. Carolina is a part of all six Atlantic Coast Conference games that will air as a part of this package.
The Miami series is scheduled for April 15-17 with games scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Friday's game will air on ESPNU, while Saturday's will be carried by ESPN2. The Sunday game will be tape-delayed on ESPNU at 4 p.m.
Carolina concludes its regular season with Georgia Tech May 19-21. The Thursday, May 19 game is set for 7 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN2, while the final two games of the series will be carried on ESPNU. Friday's game is at 7 p.m. with a 5 p.m. start set for Saturday.
"College baseball and softball have emerged in recent years and our growing coverage reflects that," said Burke Magnus, vice president and general manager ESPNU. "With the addition of ESPNU, our networks have the most extensive college baseball and softball lineup on television. We will provide fans with a consistent schedule of action from April through the crowing of their national champions."
ESPNU will also supplement ESPN and ESPN2's baseball regional and super regional and softball super regional coverage with additional game telecasts from those NCAA Championships leading up to the Men's and Women's College World Series. For the third consecutive year, ESPN and ESPN2 will televise every game of the College World Series (up to 17 games from June 17-27) and the fourth straight year of every Women's College World Series matchup (up to 17 games from June 2-8).
With addition of these six telecasts, 11 regular-season Carolina baseball games will be televised in 2005.
