No. 31 Tar Heels Open Season With Pair Of Shutout Victories

GREENSBORO, N.C.--North Carolina has received the No. 7 seed in the 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Tournament and will meet No. 10 seed NC State Thursday at 12 noon at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C. The Tar Heels head into the tournament with a record of 14-9 overall and 4-6 in the ACC.

Three first round matches will be played Thursday with the winners advancing to Friday's quarterfinal round. The top five seeds all earned byes in the opening round.

UNC and NC State met in the quarterfinals of the 2004 ACC Tournament with UNC winning 4-0. In this year's regular-season meeting in Raleigh, Coach Sam Paul's Tar Heels prevailed by a 4-3 count.
