Tar Heels to Host Old Dominion on Saturday

CHAPEL HILL -- The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team will play its final regular-season game of 2005 when it hosts Old Dominion on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game will be played on the grass of Fetzer Field on the UNC campus.
The game with the Lady Monarchs will mark the final regular-season home appearances for five Carolina seniors -- Gina Allen (Monkton, Md.), Nicki Barnes-Wagner (Severna Park, Md.), Allison Higgins (Towson, Md.), Christina LaPenta (Brightwaters, N.Y.) and Ilsa Leon (Fairless Hill, Pa.).
The Tar Heels enter Saturday's contest with a record of 11-4 but lost their most recent outing, a 14-7 decision to No. 9 Maryland at Henry Stadium in Chapel Hill. ODU is 3-11 and has lost eight consecutive games.
UNC is ranked No. 9 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association national poll, falling from No. 6 after the loss to the Terrapins.
The Tar Heels will enter the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament next week in Baltimore, Md. The first round game will be played on Thursday, April 28 at 5 p.m.
