CHAPEL HILL -- University of North Carolina sophomore Jenn Cook has been named a 2005 second-team All-America by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assocation and US Lacrosse, the IWLCA announced this week. Senior Gina Allen was named to the third team. Last week, Cook was named a first-team All-America by Inside Lacrosse.
NCAA champion Northwestern features three first-team honorees and two second-team honorees, while NCAA runnerup Virginia and NCAA semifinalists Duke and Dartmouth all claimed four All-Americas. NCAA Tournament teams Princeton, Boston University, Maryland, Georgetown and Penn State each boasted three honorees, while NCAA Tournament teams Johns Hopkins, North Carolina and Syracuse also had multiple selections to the teams.
Cook, a sophomore defender, finished third in the Atlantic Coast Conference in ground balls and third in draw controls.
Earlier last week, Cook was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assocation/US Lacrosse All-South team. She also was named All-ACC last month.
Allen led the ACC in ground balls per game in 2005 with 3.15. Like Cook, she was named to the All-ACC team last month.
