Woodard Named Cape League Pitcher of the Week

CHATHAM, Mass. - After improving to 2-0 on the summer with seven shutout innings in his last start, North Carolina's Robert Woodard - a member of the Chatham A's - was named Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Week Saturday.
A first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference choice, Woodard allowed just two hits, one walk and struck out three against Brewster on June 27. The Charlotte right-hander faced just one over the minimum in seven shutout innings.
On the summer, Woodard is 2-0 with a 1.06 earned run average over 17 innings. He has allowed just two runs and has nine strikeouts against just one walk. Woodard is 10th in the league in ERA, while fellow Tar Heel Andrew Miller is fifth with a 0.64 mark. Classmate Daniel Bard leads the league with 35 strikeouts through games of July 4.
