NFL Update: Week 8

Three former Tar Heels turned in solid performances in Week 8 this past Sunday. Greg Ellis and the Cowboys were down 14-0 to the Panthers after the first quarter, but were able to bounce back with 35 unanswered points. Ellis contributed to the Cowboys' comeback with two sacks, with one in the second quarter and the other late in the game that resulted in a fumble by Jake Delhomme.
Willie Parker and Alge Crumpler each were able to find the end zone as Parker scored in the fourth quarter on a 25-yard pass to bring to the Raiders' lead down to 7. The Steelers staged a comeback to the Raiders' 1-yard line but were unable to punch it in to tie the game. The Steelers went on to lose, 20-13. Crumpler got in the end zone for the second straight week after he reeled in a 16-yard pass from Michael Vick right before halftime. Crumpler now has five touchdowns on the season- tops in the NFL among tight ends.

Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins - Bye week.
Dre' Bly, Detroit Lions - Bye week.
Jason Brown, Baltimore Ravens - Started at left guard in the Ravens' 35-22 defeat of the New Orleans Saints.
Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons - Started at tight end and led the Falcons in receiving with four catches for 72 yards and caught a touchdown for the second straight week as the Falcons held off the Cincinnati Bengals, 29-27.
Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders - Played wide receiver and caught one ball for nine yards as the Raiders beat the Steelers, 20-13.
Russell Davis, Seattle Seahawks - Played defensive tackle and recorded four tackles and one fumble recovery as the Seahawks dropped their second straight game losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-28.
Ebenezer Ekuban, Denver Broncos - Started at right defensive end and recorded one tackle in the Broncos' loss to the Colts, 34-31.
Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys - Started at linebacker and had three tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble as the Cowboys beat the Carolina Panthers, 35-14.
Madison Hedgecock, St. Louis Rams - Started at fullback in the Rams' 38-24 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
William Henderson, Green Bay Packers - Played fullback and notched one tackle on special teams as the Packers moved to 3-4 with a win over the Arizona Cardinals, 31-14.
Vonnie Holliday, Miami Dolphins - Bye week.
Keith Newman, Miami Dolphins - Bye week.
Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers - Started at running back and gained 83 yards on 22 carries and also caught two passes for 28 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' 20-13 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Julius Peppers, Carolina Panthers - Started at left defensive end and had two tackles in the Panthers' 35-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Peppers is now third in the NFL in sacks with eight.
Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh Steelers - Had two field goals from 29 and 39 yards out along with one PAT as the Steelers lost to the Raiders, 20-13.
Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts - Started at center for the Colts as they beat the Broncos 34-31 to move to 7-0 on the season.
Jonas Seawright, New York Giants - Played defensive tackle as he got on the field for the first time of the season in the Giants' 17-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gerald Sensabaugh, Jacksonville Jaguars - Started at safety and recorded one tackle as the Jaguars won their first road game of the season by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 13-6.
Brian Simmons, Cincinnati Bengals - Started at linebacker and had two tackles in the Bengals' loss to the Panthers, 29-27.
Ryan Sims, Kansas City Chiefs - Played defensive tackle as the Chiefs beat the Seattle Seahawks, 35-28.
Jeb Terry, Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Not active in Week 8.
David Thornton, Tennessee Titans - Started at linebacker with six tackles and one pass defense as the Titans beat the Texans, 28-22.
Greg Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers - Played long snapper and had one special teams tackle as the Steelers fell to the Raiders, 20-13.
