Brian Chacos, Senior Offensive Tackle
Concerning playing his last home game:
This game will be awesome; I can't wait. Not too many guys are
lucky enough to do this. My mom will definitely be crying again. Last
year's senior game she was really upset as well and my dad and I were
upset because I thought it was going to be my last game I was going to
play on this field. I have had a lot of great memories here. It's
really an emotional day. I have overcome a lot of things and my
parents have been my main support system. It was very special last year,
but I am really lucky that I got a chance to come back this year and
hopefully we are going to come out with a win on Saturday.
On the mood surrounding the announcement of coach Davis:
There had been a lot of speculation with coach Davis and
hearing that he was going to come here, so it wasn't that big of a
shock. He is not going to be my coach, so I really don't have that
much to say. I guess you can say it is good for the program. I really
don't know what kind of a coach he is or what his philosophy is, but I
have heard good things.
On Coach Bunting's reaction:
He came into our meeting and joked that I am still your coach
for 13 more days, and that is just the way coach Bunting is. He is
going to finish it out to the end, and that's just the way he is. He is
first class and that's just what you do when you are in that situation
and that's what he did."
On the example Coach Bunting has set:
He has been unbelievable for me. As the old guy on the team, I
am 24 years old, and I am still learning a lot of life's lessons, and
coach Bunting has been a really good guide for me to show what it is
like during tough times, and I guess in 13 more days I am going to
be out in the real world and I will be making my own decisions. To
be able to watch coach Bunting and to see what he has been able to
overcome this season has been very impressive and has shown me how you
overcome things in hard times. So he has been a really good example for
me and I know the other guys have seen that too."
On whether Bunting has changed at all:
Same Coach Bunting, same guy.
On NC State:
For me, beating State would make the season. Anytime we play NC
State it's a huge rivalry game. A win would be awesome; there is no
other way to explain it. It would be awesome beating them out in front
of out fans and just for this team to get a win and to get that feeling
back of winning a game which we haven't had for a while. So that is our
main focus this week is to beat NC State.
Hilee Taylor, Junior Defensive End
On Butch Davis:
We still play for coach Bunting right now. I don't really know
anything about Butch Davis. Right now I am playing coach Bunting right
now.
On NC State's running game:
They are pretty big guys. We have been facing big guys all
season. The guy from Furman was pretty big and then there is Davis from
Clemson. It is just another challenge.
On the rivalry:
It's a big rivalry like you said. The season has been
disappointing but this is one of those games that we would love to win.
We would love to win period, but this is one of those games that would
make us feel successful if we win.
On how the coaching search speculation affected the team:
I know as a team we play for coach Bunting. I can't speak for
the other guys. I know that we want to go out there and play and, yes, we
hear stuff, but we just give a shoulder to it. This is about coach
unting's last two games with us, and I have another year here, which is
plenty of time to get to know coach Davis, but for right now I want to
make the best of it for coach Bunting."
On wanting to win for Coach Bunting:
Yes, I definitely want that to happen. Coach Bunting is a real
honest guy, and he was an honest guy in my recruiting process. He told
me that I would play as a true freshman, and he made that come true and
he told me that I would play a significant amount if I would just work
hard. He has just been the most honest guy I have ever been around. I
just appreciate and respect that about him."
