Nicks, Strong Named To The Sporting News ACC All-Freshman Team

Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- University of North Carolina football players Hakeem Nicks and Jermaine Strong have been named to The Sporting News ACC All-Freshman team.
Nicks, a 6-1, 210-pound true freshman from Charlotte, set UNC freshman records with 39 catches for 660 yards. He set the school single-game freshman record with 171 yards receiving at Notre Dame. In the season finale against Duke, he had 117 yards on six catches and scored one touchdown in a 45-44 victory.
Strong, a 5-10, 185-pound redshirt freshman from Shelby, N.C., played in 11 games and started the final five at cornerback. In those five starts, he had 14 tackles, five pass break ups and one forced fumble. Matched up against Georgia Tech All-America wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Strong limited Johnson to two catches and forced him to fumble after a catch.
