RIO GRANDE, P.R. - Carolina golfer Ann Laney scored her first career hole-in-one Friday during play in the Lady Puerto Rico Golf Classic. It came on the par 3, 150-yard 11th hole at the Coco Beach Golf Course. Laney, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., grabbed the first-round lead with a four-under-par 68.
"Everything just kinda fell into place," said an excited Laney. "It was a special day - my first hole-in-one ever."
However, Laney failed to see her ball go in the hole. She was bending down to pick up her tee when Carolina head coach Sally Austin and some other coaches yelled and told her it had gone in.
More information on the Lady Puerto Golf Classic to come later when complete results are available. Stay tuned to TarHeelBlue.com.
