Evans Named To Academic All-District second team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina junior Anna Evans has been named to the Academic All-District second team for softball, announced Thursday. A shortstop from Fairmont, N.C., Evans is majoring in exercise and sport science with a minor in chemistry and has a 3.61 grade point average. She was named to the District 3 second team for the second year in a row.
Evans has started all 62 games this season for the No. 22 Tar Heels, 47-15 overall following Thursday's 5-3 win over Maryland in the team's first game of Atlantic Coast Conference Championship play. The team MVP last season as a sophomore, she is batting .281 and leads UNC with a .400 on-base percentage.
A team captain, Evans is attending North Carolina on a Morehead Scholarship, the school's most prestigious merit award. She is active on campus as part of Carolina Outreach, through which student-athletes participate in community service.
