After Saturday's 4-3 win over Oregon State, North Carolina is one win away from its first national title in baseball and the ACC's first championship since Wake Forest claimed the crown in 1955. The Tar Heels have 33 NCAA team titles.

Carolina extended its NCAA tournament winning streak to nine games, which matches its longest streak of the season (April 21-May 9). The Tar Heels have won six consecutive games over teams ranked in the top five of the national rankings. All four of Carolina's CWS games have been decided by four runs or less.

The Tar Heels extended their school-record win total to 54.

Chad Flack matched a career-best effort with four hits and regained the Tar Heels' single-season hit record in Saturday's win over Oregon State. Flack now has 109 hits on the year, while teammate Josh Horton has 106 for the top two totals in program history. Flack, who also had three hits in the opening win over Cal State Fullerton June 16, had four hits for the second time this season and first since doing so at Duke April 29. Flack is also the first Tar Heel to record four hits in a CWS game.

After a 4-for-4 effort Saturday, Chad Flack has five consecutive hits dating back to the win over Cal State Fullerton June 21. The CWS record for consecutive hits is eight.

With four shutout innings Saturday, Carolina's bullpen has now worked 12.2 scoreless frames in the CWS. As a team, the Tar Heels have allowed just 13 runs in 40 innings for a 2.92 ERA.

Jonathan Hovis has worked 5.2 scoreless innings over three appearances in Omaha to lower his NCAA-best ERA to 1.17, which would rank as the fifth-best total in UNC history. Over his last nine appearances, Hovis has not allowed an earned run in a span of 16.1 innings. Hovis has made 37 appearances this season to rank third on Carolina's single-season list.

Andrew Carignan struck out the final two batters of the game to record his second save of the CWS and his 15th of the season, which ranks second on the Tar Heels' single-season list. He has now struck out 44 in 33.2 innings on the season.

Carolina's two first-inning runs against Dallas Buck snapped a string of 20 consecutive scoreless frames by the Oregon State pitching staff. The Beavers shut out No. 2 seed Rice in back-to-back games and allowed just one run over their last three contests to reach the CWS championship series.

After allowing five hits the first time through the order, Andrew Miller did not allow a base hit the second time though the OSU lineup. He struck out five in a six-batter stretch over the third, fourth and fifth innings. Miller finished with five strikeouts in five-plus innings to extend his single-season school record to 133. Miller, who did not come back in the game after the one-hour, 11-minute weather delay, also allowed his third home run of the CWS after giving up just one through the Super Regional.

Garrett Gore's seventh-inning double snapped an 0-for-12 stretch at the CWS.

Carolina used the same batting order for the fourth straight game for the first time this season.
