NORTH PLAINS, ORE. - Katie Miller and Lauren Hunt, both members of the University of North Carolina women's golf team, missed the cut for match play at the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur. Hunt fired rounds of 76-75 for a 151 total during stroke play qualifying to tie for 60th place while Miller tied for 96th with a 157 total after carding rounds of 82-75.
Hunt was one of seven players deadlocked in a tie for 60th place and lost in a playoff for one of the final five spots as the low 64 scorers advanced to match play which begins Wednesday and continues through Sunday.
Miller, a rising senior for the Tar Heels from Jeannette, Pa., was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer in 2005 while Hunt, a rising sophomore from Little River, S.C., recently won the 2006 Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship.
The prestigious event is being played at the Witch Hollow Course at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
