Brian Chacos, Senior Offensive Tackle
Q: You've got a new starting quarterback, did you know that?
Chacos--"I just found out."
Q: What is your reaction?
Chacos - "Well, both quarterbacks are really talented and this will be a great opportunity for Cam Sexton. I know he will be very excited to start his first college game and we are going to be very supportive of him. Obviously the offensive line will give a great effort. I know he is going to go out there and play his best. I was also told that Joe Dailey was also going to play so it is going to be tough for Furman to get ready for both quarterbacks because they both have their own style. Joe is not afraid to pull the ball down and run it and Cam has done a good job of running the ball so it going to be hard for them to get ready for both quarterbacks."
Q; How does it effect you guys preparation-wise?
Chacos - "The preparation is going to be the same. We are going to play just as hard for the both of them but Cam is going to sit in the pocket a little bit more which will put a little more stress on the offensive line just to keep the protection strait, while Joe is not afraid to get outside the pocket. Cam did a little bit of that too but Cam is more of a pocket passer which is good for the offensive. We are happy that Cam is going to get a chance to show what he can do."
Q: What was Cam like in the huddle on Saturday?
Chacos - "He was fine. Everyone was thinking he was going to be real nervous but Cam is cool and calm and he did a great job when he went out there. He led the team and he got us in the position we wanted to be in. He wasn't nervous at all and I am really excited to see what he is going to do on Saturday."
Q: This is the kind of thing that can spark a team, but is there really that much difference because both guys have played in games before and you have seen them in practice?
Chacos - "I don't think it is necessarily going to spark the team. We are obviously in a position where we need to win this game and so that is enough motivation right there. We need to win this game, but we are excited that Cam is going to get a shot. We are in a position right now where we need to win this game, as you were saying about the spark, Cam and Joe have both played so it is not going to be that big of a difference."
Q: Is it going to be a platoon situation from here on out?
Chacos - "That's up to coach Cignetti and coach Bunting, whatever they decide is going to be cool with us. Both are good quarterbacks and we are going to be able to win with both of them."
Q: Does the decision surprise you at all?
Chacos - "Once again, we are players and we play and coaches, they coach and make the decisions and we are happy. As an offensive line and as a group we are happy to have either one of them start and play."
Q: From your perspective what is going wrong in the running game?
Chacos - "Well, I am going to take some of the credit for that. That is my position group and I am the leader of that group and so I will take the blame for the struggles for the running game. We haven't played as well as we have needed to play to run the ball efficiently. We are just going to get back to work. We had a great practice Monday. We were excited and we were getting after it. It's going to be a great week of preparation and I am going to get my group ready and we are going to play our best game of the year against Furman."
Q: How important is it to beat the 1AA teams?
Chacos - "It is just like any other team we play, it's a must win. It doesn't matter if their 1AA or if their the number one team in 1A, if they are on our schedule we want to win."
Q: Is it important to respect the team?
Chacos - "You respect everyone. It doesn't matter whether we are playing Furman or Notre Dame. You respect equally and you play just as hard and you should prepare to win."
Cooter Arnold , Sophomore Free Safety
Q: What do you know about Furman's running back? He averages about seven yards per carry.
Arnold - "I know that he is small and he is quick. Other than that we have to look for the option and watch him."
Q: How important of a game is it this weekend?
Arnold - "Every game is important and we need to get us a win and hopefully that will help us down the road."
Q: The little bit you know about their running game so far, how will it be different than what you have faced so far?
Arnold - "They like to run the option a lot. Sometimes it can be difficult and sometimes it can't so we just have to read our keys and cover the man we have to cover and just watch the ball."
Q: Do option teams put more pressure on you as a safety?
Arnold - "Somewhat it does. Each guy has a certain man to watch and just base my read off of that."
