The North Carolina softball team will play a total of six games this fall as it prepares to open its 2007 season in February. The Tar Heels are coming off one of their best seasons ever, as their 48-19 campaign set a record for most wins in program history and saw the team advance to the NCAA tournament for the fourth straight year.
North Carolina will kick start play this fall with a Sept. 24 trip to Conway, S.C., for the Coastal Carolina Tournament. The Tar Heels will play two games that day, squaring off against UNC-Wilmington first and later taking on host Coastal Carolina.
The team will play host itself a few weeks later for the Carolina Fall Classic, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 7 at Anderson Stadium in Chapel Hill. Carolina will face both East Carolina and UNC-Pembroke, with Charleston Southern rounding out the four-team field. The full schedule for the five-game Carolina Fall Classic is reproduced below.
The Tar Heels wrap up their fall play the next day, Oct. 8, at the Wolfpack Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. Carolina will face Pfeiffer and Elon to close out its autumn slate.
