Heinrich Takes Title At NC State Fall Tournament

RALEIGH, N.C.- North Carolina's Tristan Heinrich and Jeff Schroeder competed in the NC State Fall Tournament this weekend in Raleigh, N.C. The duo was eliminated in the quarterfinals of doubles, while Schroeder fell in the Round of 16 singles and Heinrich won singles Flight B.
Junior Heinrich, a native of Boise, Idaho, earned four singles wins to take the Flight B championship. Heinrich defeated UNC Greenboro's Taylor Befus, Elon's Kevin Beard and Campbell's Alexandre Duval before advancing to the final round where he cruised past High Point University's Jim Trussler, 6-3, 6-3, respectively.
Joining Heinrich in the tournament was fellow junior Schroeder who fell to UNC Greensboro's William John in the Round of 16, 6-2, 7-6(5).
The Tar Heel juniors teamed up in doubles action, but fell in the quarterfinal round to Campbell's Vasja Gorjup and Artoym Starkov, 8-6.
The Tar Heels will host their first tournament the weekend of Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
