CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Shannon Boyle, a senior on the University of North Carolina women's golf team, was selected a 2005-06 All-American Scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association. Boyle was one of 244 golfers named to the Division I team. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in college athletics as the minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent of the school's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
This marks Boyle's second appearance on the All-American Scholar team as she was also named to the team in 2004-05. A three-time honoree on the ACC Honor Roll (2004-06), Boyle played in three tournaments for the Tar Heels in the spring and four tournaments in the fall of 2005, two as an individual. Her low finish came in the first event of the spring campaign when she tied for 52nd place at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
