JONESBOROUGH, TENN. - The University of North Carolina fired an eight-under-par 280 for an eight-under 569 total and is in sixth place at the Bank of Tennessee at The Ridges Intercollegiate. The Tar Heels are just five strokes behind second-round leader Wake Forest which stands at 12-under 564 after firing a 10-under 278 on Saturday.

Junior Robert Riesen, from Pinehurst, N.C., fired a six-under 66 in the second round for a seven-under 137 total and is tied for second place in the individual race. Senior Barden Berry and freshman Kevin O'Connell both fired one-under 71s. Berry, from Kinston, N.C., is tied for 15th place at two-under 142 while O'Connell, from Cary, N.C., is one stroke back at 143 in a tie for 21st. Sophomore David Holzwoth, from Chapel Hill, N.C., fired an even-par 72 and is tied for 45th at 147 while senior Reed Darsie, also from Chapel Hill, carded a 73 and is tied for 62nd with a 149 total.

East Tennessee State trails the Demon Deacons by just one stroke in the team race with an 11-under 565 total after firing a five-under 283 in the second round. Virginia Tech is alone in third place at nine-under 567 while Tennessee and Kent State are tied for fourth place with eight-under 568 totals, one stroke ahead of the Tar Heels at 569.

Chris Paisley of Tennessee fired an eight-under 64 in the second round to grab a three-stroke lead with a 10-under 134 total. Brendan Gielow of Wake Forest is tied with Carolina's Riesen in second place with a 137 total. Drew Weaver of Virginia Tech is alone in fourth place at six-under 138 while East Tennessee State's Rhys Enoch and Kent State's John Hahn are deadlocked in fifth place at five-under 139.

The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Sunday at The Ridges Golf and Country Club, which features a par 72, 7,147-yard layout.
