CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina men's soccer team opens an important three-match home stand Tuesday against High Point at 7:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field. The Tar Heels (4-4-5) are coming off an 0-1-1 road swing last week but play four of their final five games in Chapel Hill beginning with Tuesday's match-up against the Panthers (5-7-1).
Carolina has won just once in its last four games but played three top-10 opponents over this stretch. High Point has been off since an overtime loss to Radford on Oct. 16. The Panthers dropped their only other game against an ACC foe this season, a 5-0 decision to NC State on Oct. 3.
The Tar Heels are 12-0-2 in 14 all-time meetings with the Panthers, including a 3-3 tie in Chapel Hill a year ago. Michael Callahan, Zach Loyd and Eddie Ababio scored for the Tar Heels with Ababio netting the equalizer in the 64th minute.
Carolina has continued its solid defensive play, allowing only 11 goals in 13 outings this season. Sophomore forward Bill Dworsky continues to pace the scoring with four of UNC's 18 goals.
Matt Tuttle leads the scoring for the Panthers with five goals and 14 points.
Following Tuesday's match, the Tar Heels return to conference action against Clemson at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A webcast of both matches this week will be available and on-demand at ACCSelect.com.
