Dworsky Named Progress Energy Performer Of The Week

Carolina men's soccer forward Bill Dworsky scored two goals against Clemson and had five points for the week and is the Progress Energy Tar Heel of the Week for October 22-28, 2007. The sophomore from Huntsville, Ala., led the Tar Heels to an unbeaten week with wins over High Point and Clemson. After assisting on Brian Shriver's game-winner against High Point Tuesday, Dworsky scored the game-winning goal against Clemson on a header in the 59th minute Sunday. He also scored the Tar Heels' first goal in the 6th minute and leads UNC with six goals and 15 points.

Junior, Upper Montclair, N.J.
Junior midfielder Yael Averbuch scored a pair of goals in UNC's 4-1 win over NC State on Thursday, October 25, her fourth and fifth goals of the season. The win upped Carolina's lead in the ACC with an 8-1 record and 24 points in the standings heading into the regular season finale against Virginia. Averbuch also had the game-winning goal against the Wolfpack. Four of her five goals this season have been game-winning goals.
ALISON CLEMENS
Women's Swimming
Sophomore, Staten Island, N.Y.
Alison Clemens won the 400-yard individual medley in the Tar Heel Invitational in 4:19.02, her career best time and an NCAA B qualifying standard. Her time was more than nine seconds faster than the second fastest performer in the ACC this season in the 400 IM. The time also moved her into a tie for 10th place on the all-time UNC times list in the event.

Freshman, Richmond, Va.
Freshman Tyler Harris swept the 400 IM and the 1650 free at the Tar Heel Invitational. His time in the 400 IM was an NCAA B qualifying standard and only two seconds off his career best.. It was also the seventh best time in UNC school history in the event. Harris also won the 1650 yard freestyle in 15:41.25. Harris has the No. 1 time in the ACC so far this year in the 1650 freestyle and the 400 IM.
RACHEL DAWSON
Field Hockey
Senior, Berlin, N.J.
Dawson led the Tar Heels with two goals in a 3-0 win at No. 10 Old Dominion Saturday and also paced the defense to its 12th shutout of the season. The top-ranked Tar Heels finished the regular season 18-0 and head into this weekend's ACC Tournament as the No. 1 seed. Dawson has a team-high 16 goals this fall.
