Nguyen Named EAGL Rookie of the Week

North Carolina freshman Christine Nguyen earned the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Week honor. Nguyen was the Tar Heels' top performer last week at a dual meet against Alabama. In addition to her second place tie in the all-around with a 39.350 score, Nguyen tied for second on vault (9.875), tied for first place on beam (9.850), and placed fifth on floor exercise (9.850). This is the third time during the 2007 season that Nguyen has received this honor; she previously was awarded it on Jan. 30 and Feb. 6.
The Tar Heels are back on the road for their next meet at the University of Maryland on March 10 at 4 p.m.
