Norris Tabbed ACC Softball Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After leading North Carolina to the USF/Adidas Invitational title, pitcher Lisa Norris added another accolade for her stellar performance last week as Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week for March 13 the league announced Tuesday.
A native of Snellville, Ga., Norris led the Tar Heels to an 8-0 record and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Pitcher. She also landed a spot on the USF adidas All-Tournament Team.
The sophomore hurler picked up five wins in four days, including wins in both the semifinal and championship games on Sunday. She posted a 5-0 record in the tournament and compiled a .068 earned run average. Four of those wins were complete games, and one was a complete game shutout.
For the tournament, Norris pitched 31 innings and gave up just four runs while holding opponents to a .162 batting average. She struck out 35 batters and allowed only one extra-base hit in a string of dazzling performances. Norris also contributed on the field, as she led the team with five RBI while batting .300 and tallying two doubles.
Norris' impressive efforts for the entire week included eight RBI, four hits, three scored runs, two doubles, one home run, one walk and a batting average of .364. She had three RBI and a home run in UNC's 16-0 shutout victory over Charlotte last Tuesday.
The Tar Heels open conference play this weekend, hosting Virginia. Both teams meet for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 17, and then wrap up the three-game series the following day.
