CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina celebrated the 2006-07 seasons of its 28 varsity athletic teams and honored several outstanding student-athletes at its annual All-Sports Banquet Monday evening at the Dean E. Smith Center.
"This banquet gives us a great opportunity each spring to recognize some of the outstanding things our student-athletes have done throughout the school year and throughout their careers," said UNC Director of Athletics Dick Baddour. "Those honored tonight are among the best of the best and deserve to be saluted by their peers and by our department. I also enjoy getting the chance to tell all our student-athletes how proud we are of them and the way they represent UNC with their hard work in the classroom and in intercollegiate competition."
Following dinner and a video presentation of athletic highlights from the year, administrators announced the winners of department and Atlantic Coast Conference awards.
Heather O'Reilly and Reyshawn Terry were honored as recipients of the Mildred McCaskill Award, which is presented to one male and one female who demonstrate excellence in athletics, scholarship and community service. O'Reilly, a member of the women's soccer team, is an education major from East Brunswick, N.J. Terry, a member of the men's basketball team, is an Afro-American studies major from Winston-Salem, N.C.

The award goes to a student-athlete who succeeds under adverse circumstances, overcoming difficulties while maintaining a positive attitude. Johnson is a biology major from Henderson, N.C.
