Four Tar Heels Honored By ABCA

OMAHA, Neb. - North Carolina's Andrew Carignan and Dustin Ackley each picked up All-America and first-team All-Atlantic region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association, while shortstop Josh Horton and right-hander Adam Warren garnered second-team all-region accolades.
Ackley and Carignan also have earned All-America honors from Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Rivals.com. Carignan was a second-team ABCA choice, while Ackley picked up third-team honors.
Ackley is batting .400 with a UNC record 114 hits to go along with eight home runs and 71 RBI. He has started all 70 games for the Tar Heels this season. Carignan is second nationally and second on the Tar Heels' single-season list with 17 saves. He has a 1.26 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 57 innings.
Horton is fourth on the team with a .336 average with seven home runs and 52 RBI. He has tallied 32 extra-base hits on the year and owns a .446 on-base percentage. Horton has started all 70 games at shortstop for the Tar Heels.
Warren, Thursday's starter against Rice in the College World Series, is 11-0 with a 1.95 ERA in 64 2/3 innings. He has made 14 appearances and 11 starts and has struck out 47, while walking 25. Warren is one of just four UNC pitchers to start a season with 11 consecutive wins.
