Softball Signee Wins Junior World Championship

ENSCHEDE, Netherlands --- North Carolina softball signee Bree Ensminger was a member of the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team that recently defeated Japan to win the ISF Junior Women's World Championship. The Americans went 10-0 over the 11-day tournament, outscoring their opponents 85-4 en route to the gold medal.
Ensminger, an incoming freshman from Mesa, Ariz., appeared in five games for Team USA. The catcher/third baseman finished the tournament 4 for 12 with six RBIs, five runs scored and two doubles. She also started three of the games, all big wins for the Americans.
Ensminger and the rest of the class of 2011 will join the Carolina softball team this fall.
