University of North Carolina head women's golf coach Sally Austin fired a one-over-par 73 to grab the first-round lead at the SkyCaddie LPGA Teaching and Club Pros National Championship Senior Division. Austin holds a one-stroke advantage over two players who posted two-over 74 - Angela Aulenti and Lorie McCabe.

Tar Heel assistant coach Patricia Martinson carded a four-over 76 and is tied for place in the Championship Division. Two players share the lead in this division at three-under-par 69 - Stephanie Edwards and P. Frohna-Post.

The event continues through Wednesday and is being played at Pinehurst #8.
