Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- North Carolina cornerback Kendric Williams has earned a scholarship after spending the last three years as a walk-on, head coach Butch Davis announced after Saturday's scrimmage. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Williams saw limited action over the last two seasons on special teams and as a reserve defensive back.
"He is a kid that has really sacrificed a great deal in the program," Davis said. "He's been an excellent special teams player, and he's worked himself into a starting role at corner."
In 2006, Williams played in all 12 games and had three special teams tackles. He also returned four kickoffs for 85 yards, including a long of 26 at Virginia.
