It's never too early for a NFL mock draft and ESPN.com's Todd McShay has one of the first. North Carolina's Kentwan Balmer is projected as the No. 10 pick of the New Orleans Saints. That's right, No. 10!
Balmer, who is listed as the No. 6 overall senior by NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr., has been steadily moving up the charts. The 6-5, 295-pound defensive tackle will be playing in the 2008 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Saturday, Jan. 26.
A native of Weldon, N.C., Balmer was second on the team with 59 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for losses and four sacks. He was a second-team All-ACC pick and an honorable-mention All-America by Pro Football Weekly.
The NFL Draft will take place April 26-27 in New York.
