Marand And Grabinski Advance To ITA Regional Quarters

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- Second-seeded Sophie Grabinski and Sanaz Marand defeated Alexandra Luc and Stefi Balda of Clemson to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championships Saturday at Wake Forest's Indoor Tennis Center. The duo of Grabinski and Marand was the lone bright spot for Carolina Saturday, as the Tar Heels saw all six of their singles entries and two of three doubles entries fall.
Grabinski and Marand, who defeated Luc and Balda, 8-4, will meet Tennessee's Maria Sorbello and Rosalia Alda Sunday for a spot in the semifinals. The Carolina duo is the highest remaining seed in the draw after Tennessee's Caitlin Whoriskey and Zsofia Zubor, the No. 1 seeded group, fell in the round of 16.
