In what should prove to be a pivotal game in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Divsion standings, No. 19/19 North Carolina plays host to No. 22/20 Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Kenan Stadium. The game will kickoff at 12 noon and will be televised by Raycom Sports as the ACC Game of the Week.
North Carolina (6-2, 2-2) had a bye last weekend and has not played since a 45-24 victory over then-No. 23 Boston College on Oct. 25. The win improved Carolina to 4-1 at home this season and 8-3 under head coach Butch Davis. The Tar Heels play two of their next three games at home.
At 6-2, Carolina is off to its best start since 1997 when UNC won its first eight games of the year. At this point in the season last year, Carolina was 2-6. The Tar Heels are bowl eligible for the first time since 2004 when they played in the Continental Tire Bowl. One more win would ensure the Tar Heels of a winning season for the first time since going 8-5 in 2001.
Georgia Tech (7-2, 4-2) is coming off an impressive 31-28 win over Florida State in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets are under the direction of first-year head coach Paul Johnson, who previous coached at Navy and Georgia Southern.
