CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - In the final day of racing for the North Carolina rowing team's fall schedule, junior Megan McMullin and senior Katie Wood led the Tar Heels with a fourth-place finish in pairs racing at the Head of the Chattahoochee regatta.
The Carolina duo finished in 19:57.6, behind two boats from Clemson and one from Texas. UNC pairs also finished 14th (Whitney Hileman and Kristi Roblin in 21:01.7), 15th (Kelsey Grich and Kathleen Reynolds in 21:08.3), 16th (Eugenia Delbono and Paige Wolf in 21:08.8), and 18th (Andi Drabot and Kasey Munson in 21:38.7) in the 23-boat field for the Women's Open 2-.
"We just go into pairs to have a good time, and we did well today," UNC coach Sarah Haney said. "Three of our boats were within seconds of each other and it's nice to see that competitiveness within the same team. We feel good about racing in pairs and just getting another chance to go down the race course."
Sunday marked the conclusion of the two-day event. Saturday's Tar Heel highlights included a fifth-place finish in the Women's Championship 4+ and a ninth in the Women's Championship 8+. McMullin and Wood also rowed in those two boats.
"This officially concludes our fall racing and we will work on the things we need to work on and keep improving on the things that have been good for us," Haney said.
