DURHAM, N.C. - The present and future of the University of North Carolina baseball was well represented when Baseball America previewed the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft Monday on its website. Junior Tim Federowicz made the list as one of the top college prospects, and five UNC signees were listed among the top 100 high school prospects for the annual June draft.
Federowicz was rated the No. 42 overall college prospect and the No. 3 catcher. The Apex native was a second-team all-conference choice in 2007 and a third-team preseason All-America pick. Also an outstanding defensive catcher, he also pitched in 19 games and went 2-2 with three saves last season.
