Chapel Hill, NC - Dre' Bly, Denver Bronco and one of the University of North Carolina's greatest football alumni, will host The Third Annual Dre' Bly Celebrity Golf Classic on Sunday, May 17, 2008. The golf event, which will raise funds for the Dre' Bly Foundation will be held at UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill and will be open to the public.
Prior to the golf tournament, the Pairings Party will take place the evening of May 16th in the Pope Box at Kenan Stadium. Some of the festivities will include a casino night with music, food and drinks, and a silent auction featuring memorabilia donated by the participating athletes and other prominent Carolina figures.
Joining Dre' for the events will be a host of NFL superstars and Carolina greats, including Alge Crumpler and DeAngelo Hall of the Atlanta Falcons, Marshall Faulk and Torry Holt of the St. Louis Rams, Willie Parker of the Pittsburgh Steelers and David Thornton of the Tennessee Titans.
"Having this event is important because it reflects the success we've had and allows us to come back and raise money for charity," says Bly. "I didn't have the opportunity to interact with people that I admired when I was young so it is important to me to provide that opportunity through my events. I love Chapel Hill and my experience at Carolina helped me to get where I am today. Having my teammates, friends and the community support my events means a great deal to me."
The Golf Classic is open to the public and a limited number of playing spots are available. Tickets to the event are $5.00 with children under 12 free. Tickets will be available at the course the day of the event. To inquire about sponsorships, participation and to see a full list of participants visit www.drebly.golfreg.com or call 919-942-2079.
