After three innings of play the Heels and the Seahawks are settling into a pitchers' duel. UNC-Wilmington pitcher Jeff Hatcher has struck out three in as many innings giving up only one run. Alex White has given up one hit after being shaken up from taking a line drive off his hand courtesy of 1b Jes Snyder's bat. White ended the third inning picking off left fielder Rhett Miller off first base. In addition to Mount Saint Marys being eliminated from the Cary Regional, other schools no longer in NCAA tournament action are Florida, Bethune-Cookman, Columbia, Dallas Baptist, Texas Southern, Western Kentucky, and Eastern Michigan. Florida State was nearly eliminated, but defeated rival Florida 17-11 in Tallahassee.
