Women's Golfers Shoot 297 At NCAA West Regional

The University of North Carolina women's golf team played is currently tied for 15th place with nine teams still out on the course in the first round of the NCAA West Regional. Carolina fired a nine-over-par 297 total at Lincoln Hills Golf Club, a par 72,.6,338-yard layout, in Lincoln, Calif.
Sophomore Kate Thomas, from Murwillumbah, Australia, fired a two-under-par 70 to lead the Tar Heels. Junior Sydney Crane, an All-ACC performer from Jamestown, N.C., carded a two-over 74. Lauren Hunt, a junior from Little River, S.C., posted a four-over 76 while senior Ann Laney, from Charlotte, N.C., carded a 77 and senior Colette Lowe, from Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., shot 79.
Southern California is currently atop the leaderboard after firing a five-under 283 total and holds a four-stroke lead over Tulsa. Two players, Paola Morena of Southern California and Alison Walshe of Arizona, are the early individual leaders after firing four-under 68s.
