Seahawks 4, Elon 1 in the sixth

It took four Elon pitchers to get three outs in the sixth inning as the Seahawks took the lead 4-1 over the Phoenix. UNC-Wilmington catcher Mark Carver set a single season record for most hit-by-pitches with 18 in a season after taking a Jesse Lewter pitch off the leg in the top of the sixth. Carver, who leads the Seahawks with 21 home runs and 80 RBI, has been plunked 33 times in his career also a Seahawk record. Bobby Leeper put the Seahawks up again in the sixth with a RBI single to left field to score Carver. Leeper, who is now 3-3 on the day with 2 RBI, ended Phoenix starter Jesse Lewter's day after 5.2 innings of work. Lewter allowed four runs on four hits with three strikeouts and two base-on-balls. Righty Daniel Britt came on in relief for the Phoenix to only face one batter walking Seahawk leftfielder Rhett Miller. In a situational move, Phoenix lefty Jimmy Reyes came on to pitch to face Seahawk pinch hitter Jes Snyder. Snyder delivered a 2 RBI single to left field to extend the lead to 3-1, the Seahawks have four two-strike hits on the day. Freshman righty Jared Kernodle then came on in relief to set a single season school record 31 appearances to retire Seahawk shortstop Mike Rooney on a fly out to center field. Elon Bennett Davis added his second hit of the day with a double off the left center field wall. Davis ended Frankoff's day after allowing one run thus far on six hits. New pitcher Cameron Roth is on as we are still in the sixth.
