Seahawks score 11 in top of ninth

Jared Kernodle was knocked out of the ninth after throwing 2.1 innings allowing five runs on five hits. Thomas Girdwood came in relief in the ninth to struggle issuing two walks and five runs on three hits. Seahawks Jason Appel added a RBI single in the ninth. Appel set a school record with 257 hits on his career for the Seahawks. Mark Carver added another run with an RBI single to left field, his 81st RBI on the season. The Seahawks continued the rally with a 2 RBI double from third baseman Nate Hall cutting the lead to 11-8. Bobby Leeper added a RBI single up the middle, his third RBI on the day to cut the lead to 11-9. Then Mike Rooney delivered a game-tying 2 RBI single up the middle to knot the game at 11. Shane French ripped a 2 RBI double of the right center field wall allowing the Seahawks to take the lead 13-11. Daniel Hargrave added a RBI single into left field to lengthen the lead to 14-11. Hargrave later scored on a wild pitch from new Elon righty Greg Jones. Phoenix pitcher Greg Jones came on to stop the bleeding finally ending the rally. Allen Flood is on in the bottom of the ninth to try and shut the door for the Seahawks.
