OMAHA, Neb. - After a hearty sendoff by the Carolina faithful, the Tar Heels had a safe and uneventful trip to Omaha and arrived at the Regency Lodge Thursday evening. The travel party was greeted by several UNC fans, a Carolina Blue-clad hotel staff and their gracious hosts for the week, the Exchange Club.
Friday will be a busy day for the Diamond Heels, as they will spend the afternoon at Rosenblatt Stadium. Following a team photo in front of the stadium and meetings with the ESPN production staff, the Tar Heels will practice from 3-4 p.m. CT and will then sign autographs on the concourse.
All eight teams will enjoy dinner at the stadium followed by the opening ceremonies, which has featured an unbelievable fireworks display in the past.
Those in Omaha will be lucky enough to see Candlebox perform at "The Road to Omaha Jam" beginning at 7:30 p.m. at The `Blatt. Who said Grunge was dead?
