Special Olympic Athletes Work Out With Tar Heels

Chapel Hill, N.C. ------ Approximately 30 Special Olympics athletes, volunteers, and their family and friends joined members of the North Carolina football team for a workout at the Navy Practice fields on July 16.
The participants caught passes from quarterback T.J. Yates and linebacker Ryan Taylor. Following a light workout, Carolina players signed autographs and took pictures with the Special Olympic athletes.
The day ended with a tour of the Kenan Football Center.
Special Olympics North Carolina is one of the largest volunteer organizations in the state with more than 20,000 charity volunteers. Involving more than 38,000 athletes who have intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics North Carolina is currently the second largest program in North America and seventh largest in the world.
