No. 7 Hoosiers Top No. 24 Tar Heels In Exhibition

FT. WAYNE, Ind. - No. 7 Indiana netted three second half goals to score a 3-0 win over No. 24 North Carolina in the Tar Heels' exhibition opener Friday at the National Soccer Festival. Neil Wilmarth, Brian Ackley and Kevin Noschang each scored for the Hoosiers.
Wilmarth scored the game-winner in the 57th minute, with Ackley following just four minutes later with a strike in the 61st minute. Noschang tallied the final goal in the 88th minute for the final three-goal margin.
The teams each posted 12 shots on the night, and Carolina held a 7-5 edge on corner kicks but could not find the back of the net. Forwards Eddie Ababio and Brian Shriver each had three shots for the Tar Heels.
In goal, Carolina split time between Jacob Wescoe, who made two first half saves, and Brooks Haggerty, who went the distance in the second half.
Indiana's Chay Cain and Michael Munroe combined to make four saves in the shutout.
The Tar Heels are back in action Sunday with a second exhibition match against No. 12 Akron.
